Ayaz Mahmood Ghani Information and Communications Technologies and Poverty Reduction Over the past two decades, we have seen rapid demog4aphic growth in the less developed countries with the diffusion of new information and communications technologies. Information and communication technologies are fast becoming the platform of economic development and those areas which fail to participate in such developments risk increasing marginalization. The advancement in information and communications technologies in less developed and developing nations have brought notable positive impact in the process of public service delivery and socio-economic structure of communities. The main purpose of the study is to understand the influence of information and communications technologies to reduce poverty in the less developed or developing states. Rural areas of the developing world are the last frontier of the information technology revolution, since the region is the arena of poverty.
