Paragraph Two Strategies I will use to overcome these challenges when writing a paper. For the problem of staying on topic, I will practice writing paragraphs daily. More I practice my writing, the better my writing will become. I will check every paragraph to make sure it is on the main topic of the essay as it is in the introduction. A topic sentence is a sentence whose main idea or claim controls the rest of the paragraph. Although topic sentences are not the only way to organize a paragraph and not all paragraphs need a topic sentence, it is still important to stay within the main idea or thought of the paragraph. The strategy to overcome my ability to write proper sentence structure is to make sure every sentence provides clear and complete information pertaining to the main point. I will make sure my sentences are complete and each sentence provides a subject and a verb and that my sentence express a complete idea. Another strategy I may use is to

Unformatted text preview: read each of my “sentences” from capital letter to period, and ask myself if someone would understand if he or she read that group of words (not including what comes before or after that group). One other way is to put “Is that true…” in front of the sentence, if the answer is yes, the sentence is good, if the answer is no then it is a fragment sentence and needs correcting. The strategy I would use for making sure my punctuation is correct, (mainly commas) is to ask myself if my sentence is an independent clause or a dependent clause. An independent clause is a sentence that contains a subject and verb and expresses a complete thought; whereas a dependent clause contains a subject and verb but does not express a complete thought therefore cannot be a sentence. Overall I will ask someone to read my paragraph to give me the feedback that I need to fix any errors I may have....
