Unformatted text preview: read each of my sentences from capital letter to period, and ask myself if someone would understand if he or she read that group of words (not including what comes before or after that group). One other way is to put Is that true in front of the sentence, if the answer is yes, the sentence is good, if the answer is no then it is a fragment sentence and needs correcting. The strategy I would use for making sure my punctuation is correct, (mainly commas) is to ask myself if my sentence is an independent clause or a dependent clause. An independent clause is a sentence that contains a subject and verb and expresses a complete thought; whereas a dependent clause contains a subject and verb but does not express a complete thought therefore cannot be a sentence. Overall I will ask someone to read my paragraph to give me the feedback that I need to fix any errors I may have....
