C.J. Gorrell ENGL 101 Journal #2 The argument in the article I have read is weather or not the state of Maryland should legalize slots. With the current state of the economy, the state of Maryland has been considering legalizing slots in Maryland to help increase revenue, and make up for budget deficits the state has experienced over the past few years. While there are known problems associated with bringing slots into the state, the government has failed to find any other favorable alternatives. The Baltimore Sun newspaper gives a positive opinion on the use of slots. The article builds up its argument using all three of the major rhetorical appeal. The use of ethos is given in the fact that this article comes from the Baltimore Sun. The Sun is a very respectable newspaper that is read throughout the mid-Atlantic area. Also, considering the newspaper company is based in the heart of Maryland, it feels the pains of the state’s current condition, and has taken into account the positive and negative
