1 Renee Bhathal Mr. Sciberras ENG1D0 May 31, 2019 Parents of children with Autism or Aspergers may encounter difficulties raising their children. Do you think Christopher’s father is satisfied or frustrated being Christopher’s father? Christopher and Mr. Boone’s relationship was the most significant relationship in the novel. Mr. Boone was very careful and patient towards Christopher. In the novel, The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time , by Mark Haddon, Christopher’s father, Mr. Boone, has a lot to deal with raising Christopher. Although it was difficult, Mr. Boone did not give up on Christopher and was rewarded with a practical, logical and highly-intelligent son. Ed Boone, Christopher’s father, showed and proved his determination for his son throughout the novel. First of all, he fought for Christopher to do his Math A-Level at the school itself. ‘ Mrs. Gascoyne: "Mr. Boone, nobody has ever taken an A-level in the school before." Ed: "He can be the first then." Mrs. Gascoyne: "I don't know if we have the facilities in the school to allow him to do that." Ed: "Then get the facilities." During this scene, Ed was not going to take ‘no’ as an answer. He wanted the best for his son just like Christopher wanted to go to London to take his A-Level. Secondly, Ed was very caring and patient with Christopher; even with his ‘unusual behaviour’ sometimes. ‘ Ed: "Christopher, do you understand that I love you?" Ed holds his right hand up and spreads his fingers out in a fan. Christopher does the same with his left hand. They make their fingers and thumbs touch each other.’
