9/18 Physical Development Across Lifespan Conception  egg is fertilized Chromosomes  23 rd  is sex chromosomes XY=male  XX=female -Male determines sex of the child Phenotype: genotype+environment, physical characteristics and individual eventually  has Dominant genes: being expressed when paired with weaker gene Recessive genes: can be dominated Hemophilia : -sex linked disorder, inability of the blood to clot Sex linked inheritance is carried on the 23 rd  pair Polygenic Inheritance : characteristics that result from interaction of many gene pairs  (height, weight, etc) , not just carried on the sex chromosome Genetic Counseling : couples with genetic abnormalities themselves or family history Behavioral Genetics : study of the extent to which genetic and environmental  differences among people are responsible for differences in their traits Nonshared environment : classrooms, social life, different friends
