CRIM100 9-14-09 Crime- is a common problem here and has significant problems with it. Crime is whatever we want it to be. Victims of crime victimization. Family, friends, students and everybody else. o Three levels of victims (primary, secondary, tertiary). o WE all wind up paying for crime through taxes, search chargers on accounts in banks. Therefore the whole society suffers. How do u avoid crime and where does crime take place? o Crime will occur most wherever there is a greater opportunity for it to occur. Cities (urban) have more occurring crime rather than suburban places. Due to an economic class, more secluded areas, more people so greater degree of anonymous, more drugs, *so concentrated in urban cities there is less personal space so people get angry and cause crime. o Greater opportunity grater occurrence. o Crime is an opportunistic event. Let there be the opportunity the probably is that there will be someone who takes advantage of it. Not everyone but most people. Not everyone is attracted to that lifestyle. If they are attracted to it and the opportunity comes they will take advantage of it. 2/2/2011
