MKTG 301: Principles of Marketing Section 005 Marketing Plan Project OVERVIEW: The course project will to create a basic marketing plan. The marketing plan will consist of a written report and a presentation. TEAMS: Students will complete this project in teams. Teams will range from 5 to 7 students depending upon the final enrollment for the class. A maximum of 12 teams will be created. Students will choose their own team members. Any student who enrolls in this class late will be responsible for acquiring permission to join an already existing team. A NOTE ON TEAMS: Teamwork is always a challenge. Make sure to choose your team wisely. It is expected that each team member will contribute to the completion of the marketing plan. However, it is often the case where teams can have free riders, who don’t contribute, and/or domineering members, who won’t let others contribute. Each team member has the responsibility to make the team and the class work. Prior to the finalization of your team, it is expected that the team will discuss how to handle the potential problem of freeriders/domineering members. Teams will complete the “Team Contract” to finalize their teams. The team contract includes (1) the names of each team member; (2) a paragraph explaining how the team will approach ensuring cooperation; and (3) the signatures of each team member agreeing to the documentation Further, as an additional incentive to assure team cooperation, each member will privately evaluate all members of the team at the end of the semester. This will factor into your individual grade. IMPORTANT DATES! September 7 th , 2010: Marketing plan project discussed; Teams finalized. September 28 th , 2010:Designated time with marketing plan team November 2 nd , 2010: Designated time with marketing plan team; Order of presentations determined November 30 th , 2010: Written marketing plan due in hard copy form November 30 th , 2010: Marketing plan presentations (6 teams) December 7 th , 2010: Marketing plan presentations (6 teams) WRITTEN REPORT:
