Assignment # 3 CVEN - 444 Spring 2006 DUE: Tuesday, February 7, 2006 At the beginning of class ETABS Assignment 3-1: Three-Story RC Frame Building (2D): Columns are 14"x14" (column lengths = 14', 12' and 12'), beams are 12"x20" (beam length = 28', bending occurs about strong axis). Take the compressive strength of concrete: f c ' = 4,000 psi, and the modulus . ' 57,000 cc E f = . • Dead Load (D) (slab, beams, and superimposed) is 1 k/ft on all beams. One (1) dead load case. • Live Load (L) is 2 k/ft. Three (3) possible live load cases/arrangements: on all spans (1 case) and on alternating spans creating a checkerboard pattern on structure (2 cases). Assume the roof load to be the same as the floor loads below. • Wind Load (W) is 20 kip lateral force on each story. Two (2) possible cases as wind comes from the left and then the right side of the structure (2 cases).
