Freewriting Prompts for the Notebook Write for a set time (5, 7, 13, 21 minutes?). Don’t stop; don’t edit; let everything/anything come  up. Polish a bit for the notebook but don’t edit out spontaneity.  Write to a part of your body that has caused you problems.  A part of your body writes a letter to you. Write about any “first” (e.g., first dog, first bike, first grade, first semester, first trip abroad, first  bank account….any first, large or small). Use the following phrase as your first line. "After the door shuts and the footsteps die. .." Use the following line as inspiration. "Tracing the outline of her face from a photograph. .." Use the following phrase as a focal point to write from: "The stain will not come out. .." Write short prose or poetry using the following theme: transparency Write using the following phrase as the title: "Prolonged Exposure"
