THE GREAT GATSBY Many describe the American Dream as “Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” As mentioned in the declaration of independence. In Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, we read about the 1920s, and the pursuit of the American Dream by some. Great Gatsby is being narrated by a man named Nick Carraway, a young man who is Daisys cousin. As I was reading through the novel, I was learning about Gatsby and other characters while they are trying to get the ‘American Dream’. In this novel, F. Scott Fitzgerald shows what the American Dream is, those who are pursuing it, and the impact that it has on them. F.
