Lizzie’s Discussion Notes 17:04 Earth system Natural scientific study High interconnectivity – geo, bio, atmo, hydro Cyclical and self regulating  Last 150 years – (since industrial rev) – unprecedented rise in level of CO2 in  the atmosphere Acceleration is a problem – is happening very fast  Can not go above 2 degrees Tipping point – 5 degrees Global warming Trapped rays lead to temperature increase Ocean = carbon sink – too much and cannot break it down o Plankton – source of all ocean life but can’t do their job which is upsetting  the balance of the ocean Soil – deforestation – upsets cycle o Less trees to absorb and breakdown CO2, forest decay gives off CO2 Deserts – less rainfall, dry areas are becoming drier Currents are being slowed because of temperature change, salt level change,
