What is the major difference between males and females? o Women give birth, men don’t o Size, men are often larger o Secondary sex characteristics-breasts, facial hair, deep voice etc. Mainstream differences? o Men smarter, more responsible o Men more athletic o Women stay home, have long hair o Women not at strong Biological debates o Key terms and interpretations= science o Evolution=natural selection o Social evolution/ survival of the fittest- law r principle to govern social evolution Science is supposed to be unbiased and objective, but it can be biased. o The questions you ask, biased in the culture it is performed in o Where the funding for experiments comes from o Assumptions and interpretations Physical differences traced back to evolution. o The changes in properties of populations that are reproduced. o The process by which this occurs is natural selection o Changes in traits that occur over time because some individuals are well adapted.
