Global Research Productions For the past 15 years, the University of Florida has been ranked on the Princeton Review’s top party schools list, thus negatively impacting the school’s reputation and credibility as a top university in the Association of American Universities. In 2008, the university was ranked number one and currently holds the number two spot. This could, in turn, affect the enrollment from highly-qualified incoming freshman, the quality of a degree from the university, national funding and alumni donations. Having this reputation adversely affects the university, prospective and current students, alumni, faculty, parents of students, the community of Gainesville, and the entire Gator Nation. There is particular concern in regards to recruiting the most sought-after freshmen in the country while preventing the University of Florida from fulfilling its threefold mission statement: teaching, research and service. Interactive PR Since the opening of Gainesville’s first Walmart Supercenter off of Waldo Avenue on May 7, 2008, the corporation has insufficiently reached out to Gainesville area residents to publicize their numerous programs to benefit members of the community. Walmart’s negative public image would decrease if more people were aware of the many programs offered. According to one recent poll, 38 percent or nearly 4 in 10 Americans hold an unfavorable opinion of Walmart. Comparatively, public perception of Target, one of Walmart’s biggest competitors, is much more positive whereas 6 in 10 Americans are confident in buying products from this retailer because of how much it gives back to the community because of their focus of promoting these programs.
