ACCT-361: Assignment #11 Sample Electronic Data Processing Controls (10 points) We will use Pets R Us - ctrl_template.accdb for completing the following learning objectives. Enter a New Sale Keith Jones, a returning customer, purchased a classic pendant from Connie Hylton today. Enter the new sale using the sale  form. System Access Controls 1. Database Password : Close all databases.  Open Access through the Start menu/All Programs bar. 2. Click the Microsoft Office Button    In the Open dialog box, browse to the template file and select it (single click  only). Click the arrow next to the Open button and then click Open Exclusive.  On the Database Tools tab, click  Encrypt with Password.  Type the password “accy” in the Password box; type it again in the Verify box, and then click  OK. 3. Group and user accounts  and ACCDE (discussion only).  Embedding Business Processing Rules (a sample) You should always test your changes after each update by trying to violate the rules you have embedded in the system.  As  always, save and back up your work frequently. 1. Completeness check:  In tblSale, make all fields required fields. Note that primary keys are always required and no  additional rule to set completeness is required. Do the same for the tblSale-Product. It is good practice to make all  fields required in your operating event tables unless they are truly optional, such as comments fields. 2. Validity, range/limit and field checks:  Access automatically checks the validity of all data types (field check).  Additional validity checks can be set. Validation rules in Access should be set when tables are created. An annoying  problem is the inability to fully update already created forms for some rule changes. We will first set validation rules in  the tables. We will update forms where needed. In your projects, you should add the controls to the tables before  creating forms, if possible. If not, test your forms to make sure the controls are updated in each form.  a. In tblSale-Product, set a validation rule for the quantity field. The Pets-R-Us, Inc. business rule: At least one item must  be sold, and no more than 50 of each item can be sold in a single sale (range check).  Set the validation text (error  message that appears when rule is violated) to read, "Quantity sold must be at least one and no more than fifty." b. In tblClerk, prepare an input mask (data entry control) for the SSN field using the input mask wizard (click on the  " .... " button). When asked, store the data with the symbols in the mask. Move to the next property line on the design

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

I cannot even describe how much Course Hero helped me this summer. It’s truly become something I can always rely on and help me. In the end, I was not only able to survive summer classes, but I was able to thrive thanks to Course Hero.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
