I will be referring to textbook problems frequently. Read before class. • It is your responsibility to bring printed lecture notes to class. They will be posted on WebCT before class . • Take notes. You need to plan to spend at least 6-9 per week outside of class on the material we cover. – Stay current on homework. – Do as many practice problems as you can. – Seek help if you are confused. See me during the office hours, or by appointment.

(c) Mikhail Pevzner and George Mason University Other notes: • The class has a comprehensive final which covers a lot. • My lectures follow the book, but I add my own interpretations to things. I reserve the right to ask you questions on the exams on the basis of my lectures. Thus, please attend and take good notes. Anything covered in class, textbook or in homework is a fair game on the exam. You are responsible for everything in your preparation. (c) Mikhail Pevzner and George Mason University Exams • Combination of m/c questions and essay problems. • I try to be very comprehensive in midterms because the final is comprehensive. • I highly recommend buying a study guide for practice multiple choice and essay problems. • If you do not put enough time in preparation, you will do very poorly. Do not cram! • I will test you on the basis on what I think you need to know, and if you do not know it, your grade will reflect that.
