There are many educational issues that are related to the First Amendment that have an effect on education and the classroom. The Pledge of Allegiance is an issue that has a serious effect on the classroom that gets overlooked. Many people argue that the pledge should be banned, but there is only one reason for banning it. Should the pledge be banned because of “one nation under God”? According to many, this quote goes against the First Amendment and it’s separation of church and state. This one quote has students speaking of religion in school and according to the constitution that is illegal. Prayer by a student before a football game or any high school sporting event should not have an effect on the classroom and students. Football games are after school hours even though the activity is on the schools’ campus with the exception of some football games. Based on the constitution, there is a freedom of speech clause and free exercise of religion that will allow someone or a student to say a prayer before any athletic event held by a school. Banning prayer from high school sporting events would be a bad idea. There are many
