Catholicism Notes 17:03 - Paulists focus a lot on television/media - Paulists: they called themselves because of St. Paul, St. Paul’s mission was to  teach the gospel to the gentiles (pagans), wanted to try to find any form of media  to communicate basic message of the gospel to wide public - High tech Evangelization Catholics took a low view of Pragmatism Pragmatism: Founder is known as William James (died in 1910) Wedded itself very nicely to SCIENCE Essence of pragmatism: “What Works” Pragmatism vs. and Ideologue - If you accept religion as being absolutely true, then it’s difficult to accept the  theories of science - Religion requires faith - Pragmatism often looks as though whatever works is what is right, could be  interpreted as “the ends justify the means” - That’s not necessarily the case - Christianity does make historical claims - Catholics really took a dim view of Pragmatism
