Dante’s Inferno 22:29 Ovid’s sensibility- Comic Ovid doesn’t judge (his approach) Talks about incest, rape, etc.  Metamorpheses: About changes, alterations Come as a result of Love One dimension of Love: Transformation (Total Change) One pole of an opposition that we already see developing What one seeks out of a love relationship is some kind of ego centric validation  or legitimating You want to be the center of someone’s universe/world When you find a true love, you find most truly yourself Narcissistic element - Openness/willingness to let yourself be entirely defined by another - To literally be transformed by a Love relationship, in the ideal case to become  something better than what you were - Salvation: to be most fully what you are, when you recognize that what you fully  really are is God Ovid’s depiction of physical transformation: - People turn into rocks, streams, cows, trees, etc.
