Aubree Yeiser Engineering 101 Assignment #1A 10 September 2009 Greatest Engineering Achievement The automobile is one of the most wide spread inventions ever mass-produced. In 1888 Karl Benz put the first automobile on the market as the Benz Patent Motorwagen . The automobile is one of the most commonplace inventions today; society would be entirely different without it. The automobile has ultimately outdated the use of horses or animals for transportation, other than for recreational purposes. Along with the automobile itself, in order to drive somewhere it is also necessary now to have roads, stoplights, bridges, freeways, and countless other requirements. The automobile is also something that has changed and improved greatly over the years. It is not a stagnant invention that faded away with time, but something that can always be modified to fit the latest advancement. The automobile is the greatest engineering achievement of all time
