Roll’s conclusions o He appears to endorse welfare state liberalism o Know: p.357 (first two principles) o 1 st Principle He considered that this principle should have priority over the 2 nd We want as much liberty as possible for everyone Negative Liberty Right to non-interference Positive Liberty Right to some good o 2 nd Principle part a: Social/ economic goods should be distributed so that they’re to the advantage of those who are least advantaged Difference Principle Problem (according to Brower): o Milton Freedmen believed that a pure capitalist society will lead to something better for those in the worst situation- most of the money that’s spent on taxes is instead reinvested in the companies which creates larger GNP/ GDP and more money will trickle down to the lower classes o The greater the potential rewards, the more people are encouraged to work harder o In a purely laissez faire society lowest social group is best off o Rolls thinks that welfare society/ liberalism is best
