Essay: How can a transaction processing system help an organization’s management information system and decision-support system? A transaction processing system is able to help an organization’s management information system and decision support system in several ways. The collection and analysis of data is imperative to support decision-making and management processes. A transaction processing system records an organization’s everyday transactions; this day- to-day information is gathered with the purpose of being analyzed to control inventory, to spot trends in purchasing or spending, to analyze cost, profit, loss, etc. The use of a TPS supports decision-making applications such as an MIS or DSS application. Management information systems support the members of an organization’s management in making decisions based on the information that the TPS collects. The information that is analyzed helps to make decisions to solve an organization’s problems, supervise on a middle management level, and track the progress that an organization or department is making in
