The five major kinds of drivers that lead international firms to the globalization of their operations include market drivers, costs drivers, technology drivers, government drivers, and competitive drivers. International firms strive for globalization in order to make the world “smaller” and have an audience that is larger in number and because of the increased capabilities of communication and having a “smaller” world, the globalized firm is able to reach this large audience because of the figuratively small stage that it is selling to. Market drivers include the organization becoming a global customer as well as a business when they become an international organization. Domestic opportunities may be limited in domestic markets secondary to an increase in competition or not enough potential customers (Ball, et. al., 2009).
