The Cats’ Dilemma Once upon a time, long long ago, there lived two cats. They both lived in a small hut in the forest. Each cat hunted its own food. Most of the time the food was plentiful, but sometimes there were mild famines that swept over the area. This was one of those times. Both cats didn’t have much food left. As each of them ate their last meal they both wondered if they were going to live, or die of hunger. They tried to go hunting, but couldn’t get anything. Sadly they returned home. As they walked in despair, there on the ground right in front of their eyes, was a slice of cheese. The first cat saw it and exclaimed, “Oh! I found cheese!!” The second cat, instead of speaking, leapt over and got a hold of it. As he was about to eat it, the first cat said, “That’s not fair, I saw it first!” “Well,” said the second cat, “I got it first.” They kept arguing and arguing. Then one cat said, “We aren’t getting anywhere by arguing, so let us settle this, by asking the fox, who lives close by. So they agreed.
