NO as an activator of guanylyl cyclase -- cGMP Ferid Murad – his mentor Sutherland Nobel prize in 1998 – NO and cGMP --with Furchgott and Ignarro Nitroglycerin – dilates blood vessels. Since 1860s had been used to treat the pain from angina (chest pain) results from inadequate ±ow of blood to the heart. They all independently showed NO in the blood stream triggers this response NO signaling Murad -- Viagra "Nobel's Extra Dynamite" manufactured by Nobel's old company, Nitroglycerin Aktiebolaget.
