Ethical Relativism has bad consequences; there are no objective moral facts (criticism) o -Atheist example There are 2 types of beliefe grounds o Evidence e.r. can point to variation between cultures, say there is always variation between cultures; point to problems (someone tries to give moral objective theory, all moral objective theories have failed) o If believe is practically justifiable/ works in your life People who believe in God are happier/ less depressed/ commit suicide less often -“I don’t care about the evidence, I know that I feel better when I believe in God” Long-term monogamous relationship -B’s wife goes to work at night, it’s better for him to accept that she’s faithful instead of collecting evidence against her Objectivist could argue: You’re better off believeing there is an objective truth, you’ll feel more justified for attacking people who don’t share your values, have better sense of your place in the universe E.R. v. Objector
