Resource Manual Entry Overview beast Entry The entry is one continuous document. Do not create separate documents for each section of the entry. Avoid penalty points by using the templates. Properly incorporate supporting evidence. Use the APA format. Avoid dropping quotes and paraphrased statements that do not connect to the main idea. Each entry should demonstrate breadth and depth of knowledge concerning the section’s topic. In addition, the Scholarly resource section of the entries should synthesize the work by tying the literature to the diagnostic criteria, theory, treatment, or issues. Breadth refers to a wide range or scope of information. Depth refers to a strong, extreme, or detailed feeling, state, or characteristic. The length of entries will vary. However, sections in the entry should be no more than 1 to 2 paragraphs. The exception will be the diagnostic fit. Each case study is unique, and presentation will be vast. A template is available for each entry (See the Template below). Sample A sample of the in-depth study of gender identity disorder (GID) has been developed as an example. The example also provides the instruction for the content. Apply the instructions for all of the disorders except Other Conditions that Warrant Clinical Attention. Other Conditions entry has a separate instruction sheet. All instructions are in green font. Resources A list of sources page must be included at the end of your manual. Consider recording your list of sources as you progress. By doing so, you are less likely to forget the inclusion. Halgin and Whitbourne’s (2008) textbook is the foundation for the entries. Cite paraphrases and direct quotes from the textbook. If the textbook does not yield enough information to complete the entry, use other resources. Cite all additional resources. Scholarly Resource Section For entries that include the section, Scholar Resource, at least 2 additional resources (outside the textbook) are required. The Scholar Resource section acts as the conclusion for the entry. Use 1 scholarly and 1 secondary resource, or 2 scholarly resources to complete the entry. Citations from the textbook are allowed, but will not count as the secondary source. Although Halgin and Whitbourne’s text is a secondary resource, the textbook will not count as the secondary source. Include the original copies of the scholarly journal articles in the manual. Do not include copies of the secondary resource. However, take care that you list the secondary source on the List of Sources page. Be careful of internet sources that are not education, professional, or government websites. Scholarly articles should be no more than 7 years old.
