Instructor: Sara Stewart Unique: 49610 Th:6-10 p 01-30-10 Analysis# 2 The Olympus CX31 Brightfield microscope has a built-in illuminator in left or right hand stage with rackless design. This is the triocular microscope that we have in the Laboratory. The adjustment is to move the objective with a finer movement. while we are using highr magnification the distance is very critical and slight variation makes the image out of focus.to get a better contrast sometimes it is better to adjust Concensor light. The field of view change as magnification is increased because the objective gets larger. We need to use the low power scanning objective first to locate a specimen because its easier to find it if we use the high power scanning objective to locate a specimen its harder to find it. The region around the image plane in which the image will appear to be sharp is the depth of focus and this depends on magnification. To clean optical surfaces of microscopes we can use soft brush. non abrasive special lens paper can be used to remove any oil. These are the steps that required to adjust the microscope for Kohler illumination:
