Functional Area Interrelationships: Kudler Fine Foods In order to be successful, businesses should understand the importance of interrelationships between functional areas. The collaboration process between these areas is imperative to achieve the company’s goals. This paper will discuss Kudler Fine Foods and its organizational structure. The collaboration process and use of lateral and vertical collaboration within Kudler will be identified and examined along with an action plan for its use. Finally, the stakeholders and their roles to achieve Kudler’s goals will be identified along with recommending collaborative interactions between them to assist in the success of the company. Kudler’s Existence - Mission, Vision, Values, and Goals Kudler Fine Foods is a local upscale specialty food store located in the San Diego metropolitan area. The company’s founder Kathy Kudler was Vice-President of Marketing for a large defense contractor and was looking for a way out of corporate life. Kathy Kudler loved gourmet cooking and chose to create a place where she could create delicious meals and enjoy her work daily. When Kathy Kudler created Kudler Fine Foods the mission was to shop around the world for the company’s products, select only the finest products, and ensure that assure that Kudler Fine Foods is the purveyor of choice for customers aspiring to purchase the finest epicurean delights. Kudler’s Fine Foods have a goal to have the very best domestic and imported fare at every Kudler Fine Foods location. Some of Kudlers fine selection of foods include: bakery and pastry products, fresh meat and seafood, fresh produce, condiments and packaged foods, and cheese and specialty dairy products. Whether a customer just wants to learn how to mix a martini or find the perfect wine for the perfect night Kudler Fine Foods is the location to shop. One will be able to find a variety of selection at every location with prices Kudler Fine Foods say will fit in one’s budget. Kudler Fine Foods also service customers who aren’t so knowledgeable about the products such as wine. In every location, a wine steward hired by Kudler Fine Foods will always

be around to assist in the selection and offer monthly wine appreciation classes so new and existing customers can learn about the selection, and tastes of wine. Organizational Structure and Key Positions The organizational structure of Kudler Fine Foods is a hierarchical organization structure, mainly in the administration sector of the organization. This type of organizational structure is used so that each of the branches of the organizational management possess a director, relieving the president of many duties that would be very time consuming if taken on alone.
