FairPoint CFO Case Study Tyler Jackson, Clayton Anderson, Sierrah McDonald, and Henry Proegler In any business, large or small, a firm must have a group of leaders who hold the organization together. One of the core persons in this group is the Chief Financial OfficerCFO, or chief financial officer. The Chief Financial Officer is one of the most prominent positions available in a corporation. FairPoint Communications, which provides telephone services in rural markets, is the eight largest telecom carrier in the U.S. They recently hired Alfred Giammarino to step in and fulfill their position as CFO after making a major capital acquisition in March of 2008. The most important aspects of a business involve the money, how it is made, how it is organized and balanced, and where and when it is distributed. The CFO is the backbone for all of these duties.
