EECS 215 Fall Term 2008 – Problem Set #2 Assigned: Monday, 15-Sept-2008 Due: Monday, 22-Sept-2008 Homework is due at the beginning of lecture. Reading Assignment: Alexander and Sadiku, 3 rd Edition, Chapter 1, 2, 3 General Advice on Homework: 1. Start early. Don’t wait until the night before the due date! 2. Be sure to draw the circuit and label it properly with reference directions for currents and reference polarities for voltages. 3. Show all the important steps in your calculation. 4. Textbook problems are from the course textbook, “Fundamentals of Electric Circuits,” 3 rd Edition (A&S3) . The individual problem statements follow on the next pages. 1. A&S3 2.53 (Figure 2.117) with nodal analysis to determine equivalent resistances – Obtain the equivalent resistance R ab in each of the circuits of Fig. 2.117. ( Hint : Ohm’s Law has linear resistance determined by R = V / I = terminal voltage divided by terminal current.) This nodal analysis approach to determine equivalent resistance at a terminal (port) is NOT a calculation done by series-parallel resistance processes.
