Xiao Zhang Section: 26 Instructor: Nate Date: Nov. 8th Specific Purpose: To persuade my audience to take small steps to help our world’s water problems. Central Idea: The most crucial problems of the water now are water shortage, water pollution, soil erosion and no rational exploitation. We have to face these problems now and we also can make some polices to solve these problems. Pattern of Organization: Problem-Solution Introduction: 1. Attention: I want to ask a question at the beginning of my speech. How many of you are living in the apartments now? Does your water fee of every month over 30 dollars? It means you have waste water exists. The rent of living in campus or some apartments close to campus includes the water fee but it doesn’t mean that we can waste it like turning on the water while when we are cooking, it doesn’t mean that we can turn on the shower head and wait the hot water, it doesn’t mean we can use the wash machine to wash only two or three pieces of clothes. 2. Reveal topic: Water is the one of the most important sources part of our lives. Water is indispensable to production and life necessities. Water is also the vital part for maintaining ecological balance system. But now, we have to face lots of problems of our water like water shortage, water pollution, soil erosion and no rational exploitation. 3. Relate to the Audience: As human beings, we have to face these problems and solve them to protect our living environment to extend our earth’s life. 4. Credibility: In lots of countries like China, India and some African countries, because of the water uneven distribution, the big differences of the regional water resources, a lot of people die of the lack of water during the dry season.
