To: Jeff Hansen Professor of Writing University of California Santa Barbara, CA From: Gregory Lin Writing 109EC [email protected] Date: January 22, 2011 Subject: Progress Report – Writing 109EC Business Plan I am writing to you to provide background information on our business plan and product, to inform you about our progress on the project thus far, to provide you a schedule with deadlines specifically for my role in the project, and to provide a few resources that I will be using for the business plan. Background Information Our company’s name (work in progress) is Compact Living. Our product is a line of compact furniture designed to save space in homes. The target market is the middle class in densely populated cities of Asia: Hong Kong, Taipei, Tokyo, etc. Inspiration for Product: Our justification for such a product is, based on personal experience, the lack of land and space in those foreign cities. There are already several trends appearing in Asia that deal with the issue, such as capsule hotels, and we hope our product can latch onto this trend and succeed. Individual Responsibilities/Roles: Facilitator – Lindsay Wickham Market Analyst – Rong Chen Marketing Planner – Zach Levine
