Units: 6 (3 units for lecture and 3 units for clinical laboratory) D. Pre-requisites Admission to the School of Nursing. E. Co-requisites: NRSG 202, BIOL 304 and 305, NUTR 339. F. Catalog Description Introduction to physical and social science principles which provide basis for beginning level nursing theory and practice within the framework of nursing process, self care, and evidence based practice. Guided utilization of theory and skill in a clinical laboratory. Course fee may be required . May be repeated to a maximum of 12 units. III. Expected Outcomes: A. Utilize the nursing process as a framework for beginning formulation of the nursing plan of care. B. Utilize critical thinking skills and the nursing process to assess a client’s health status, analyze and cluster data to formulate a nursing or collaborative nursing diagnosis, prioritize client needs, identify realistic goals and outcomes, select appropriate nursing or collaborative interventions and evaluate the effectiveness of those interventions using the outcome criteria and in collaboration with the client, family, and other health care providers. C. Organize and implement quality nursing care of clients in a safe, effective and cost effective
