Cosmetic Surgery Makeover Programs and Intentions to Undergo Cosmetic Enhancements: A Consideration of Three Models of Media. Human Communication Research, 35, 1-27. Area of Communication: The type of communication being used in the study is mass media. The specific communication issues of the study are the relationship between viewing reality-based cosmetic surgery makeover and inention to undergo cosmetic enhancement procedures. Theory: Social cognitive Theory: functions and processes of observational learning. By watching other peoples’ behaviors, including media figures, one may develop rules to guide own actions or behaviors.
