Hanchu Li A42975496 ELC 220-2 Writing (Morris) A National Event, Final Draft During the 60 years - how China is booming October 1, 2009 is People’s Republic of China’s 60th birthday. Every Chinese is impressed by the military parade and the performance of plentiful high-tech weapons at Tiananmen Square in Beijing. What causes me to be highly proud is the rapid economic development in my motherland. From foundation to now, despite some difficulties, such as in The Cultural Revolution, The Great Leap Forward, etcetera, China has had an extraordinary experience. That has been discussed in many books, newspapers, magazines, journals and Internet. General Administration of Customs of China told me that China, from a backward country, has developed to be a mid-term industrialized one; citizens’ lives from poverty have strode to generally comfortable families; science, education, civilization, hygiene and other fields have welcomed large development and progress. QQ News informed me that according to a report by the National Bureau of Statistics of China, from 1952 to 2008, except for the price factor, the average annual Gross Domestic Product (GDP) rate increase in China is 8.1%, which springs to No.3 worldwide. According to Wall Street Journal, during the deep decline of the global economy, China’s economy still moves forward
