PS 4 1)  Problem 14.3 The process appears to be not in control, because according to rule 1, there is a point  over the UCL or outside control limits on the 23 rd  day.  Also there are two points just on  the LCL line prior to this point and one point on the LCL after. 2)  Problem 14.6 a. The process gives an out-of-control signal.  There is one point just outside of the LCL on the  4 th  day.  And there is evidence of a pattern over time because there are more than eight points  above the pbar after the 15 th  day.

b. The process is in control because there are no points outside of the control limits and no eight  or more points ina row on one side of the center line and moving in the same direction. Also,  there is no evidence of a pattern in both the Range chart and the Mean chart.
