EE3114 Hwk #2 Diodes PROBLEMS Due 1 week Read textbook chapter sections 1.4, 1.5 and chapter 2.0 1) Diode DC Analysis : for the following circuits, plot the transfer characteristics of V o (y- axis) versus I i (x-axis) and I D (y-axis) versus I i (x-axis). Use mA Ii 2 0 . These plots do not need to be on the same axis and can be hand-drawn. Use the “constant-voltage drop model” for the diode with V D =0.7V when the diode is ON. a. b. c. 2) Diode DC Analysis : for the following circuit, the power supply, V PS , operates in the range of +5v to +10V ( ) 10 5 V PS V + + . The diode is ON for this complete range with V D =0.7V (constant-voltage drop model). The minimum diode current, I D , is 2mA ( I D,min = 2mA ). The maximum power dissipation in the diode is 10mW ( P D,max = 10mW). Find the values for R1 and R2. 3) Diode Small Signal Analysis : find the small-signal resistance, rd, for a diode biased at (a) I D = 26 µ A, (b) I D = 260 µ A and (c) I D = 2.6 mA. 4)
