ME 131 Vehicle Dynamics Homework 7 Due Thursday, April 15th, 2010 1 CarSim In this homework we are going to analyze the response of a CarSim car model to a sine wave road input. It is recommended to go through the CarSim Quickstart guide before attempting this assignment. 1.1 Setting Up The Model 1. Start up CarSim and choose a B-Class, Hatchback for your Vehicle conﬁguration. 2. Under Procedure, choose Constant Speed, Road w/Rougness. 3. Click on the blue label, ’Constant Speed, Road w/Rougness’, in the new window click on ’Example Road Rougness’ under the Additional Date area. This brings us into the road proﬁle editing window. 4. We would like to create a sine wave road. There are two data areas on the right hand side, one for both left and right road proﬁles. We are going to create the same proﬁle for both. Click on calculator under the left elevation data area. 5. Choose ’Create new series with S: X = f(S), Y = f(S)’. S is the distance variable and Y is the elevation variable. 6. Set the Range of S from 0 to 150 with a step of 0.1. Set X = S and Y = 15*SIN(S). This will
