Crystal Hammond Burton Snowboards Takes Demand for a Ride Many factors can contributed to the demand of Burton Snowboards. Income of the current consumer, the number of consumers in the market, expectations of the consumers, price of other snowboards in the market, and what the consumers like at the time. The economy has put some sales at a slower increase. Many snowboarders won’t give up snowboarding as a sport, but the cutbacks on new boards and gear has slowed because many can’t afford it. As stated in the Burton Snowboard online community forum, “Personally, even though I nearly got laid off yesterday, I probably won't be affected too much. My pass & share has been paid for. Only thing is I might think twice about picking up extra gear. In the past I would pick up 2-3 new jackets/pants per year but this season I think I might just stick with one new kit and rotate in some 08 gear. Hardgoods wise, I'm going to get a new setup but probably just keep it at that.” The economy also affects the number of consumers in the market because some just don’t
