ESPM 50 AC – Final paper Spring 2010 Assignment: Throughout this semester, we have learned about the different ways diverse groups think about and interact with natural resources. For this writing assignment, I would like you to critically analyze a contemporary issue or conflict (within the last decade) having to do with natural resources through the lens of narrative, identity, power, and representation. Select a topic that has personal relevance to you, and provide a critical analysis on how your background and experiences influence the perspective(s) you present. Components due date 1) Draft paragraph and preliminary thesis: Week of April 5th in section 2) Final draft: April 30th in lecture Paper requirements: 1) Format: 5-7 pages, double-spaced with 12-point font and 1” margins 2) References: You must use at least 4 references. At least 2 of these must be from outside of the syllabus. These may include: - Academic journals and books in print or electronic format. - Creative arts resources, including poetry and prose literature, visual, dramatic musical, and electronic arts, etc. - Primary historical sources, including government publications and statistics, maps, material sources, etc. - Popular press materials, including newspaper and magazine articles (e.g.: the New York Times, Washington Post, the Nation, Time, Newsweek, etc). You may use only sources that are available in print format . If these sources also are available in electronic format, you may use and must cite the electronic resources. -
