Discussion 1 ”Save us from street violence” – Facebook group On the 6 th of October 2007 Riccardo Campogiani, a 16 year old boy, was murdered in downtown Stockholm, Sweden, by a group of boys the same age. A couple of days later a 15 year old boy took the initiative to start the Facebook group, “Save us from street violence”, in the memory of Riccardo and to encourage people to help stop street violence. After only 24 hours the group already had over 3000 members and by November 10 th 112 000 people had joined. He planned a manifestation that he posted on the group page that was going to take place at the same time in Stockholm, Gothenburg, Malmo and Copenhagen on October 12 th . In Stockholm, over 10 000 people gathered that day to remember Riccardo and to make an effort to stop street violence. After the manifestation Anton created the organization “stop street violence”, a non-profit organization the works with informing teens about the medical and legal consequences of violence. This is one of the most creative and important idea marketing campaigns I’ve ever seen and I think it was a brilliant idea of him to use Facebook, without it he probably would never have been able to reach out to as many young people as he did and really have them get involved.
