Anna Birkstedt Dance 2 Professor Judith Douglas June 4, 2009 Synapse Dance Theather An inspiring and moving work of art On Saturday May 30, the dancers of the Synapse Dance Theatre shared their inspirational and magnificent artwork with the audience at the Broad Stage in Santa Monica. The performance mostly consisted of contemporary and modern pieces, but tap dance and hip hop pieces were also part of the show. With as many as 13 different pieces, all the dancers came alive on stage, giving a magical performance. I liked almost all the pieces in the show, but two pieces in particular truly amazed me. The tenth piece “Only you” was an amazingly beautiful work of art. I loved this piece! The music by Joshua Radin, together with the effortless locking and striking dance, both choreographed and performed by Caleb Chapman, were so moving. There was never a dull moment in the piece, with Chapman using the entire stage and captivating the audience with his movements that expressed feelings of loving someone and missing somebody dear to your heart.
