2 Mnemonics: Peg Word Method The peg word method involves combining visual imagery with a verbal rhyme – useful for remembering ordered lists of items peg words are used to maintain the serial order of items ( peg words = bun, shoe, tree, etc. ) One is a bun Two is a shoe Three is a tree Peg words are then associated with to-be- remembered items through visual imagery Mnemonics: Method of Loci The method of loci , the contents of a physical location that you are familiar with are linked to the items you want to recall Imagine objects in a familiar place (your room, house, yard) Associate each of these objects with an to-be-remembered
