The Rondell Case People Frank Forbus: Director of engineering Bill Hunt: President Dave Schwab: Factory superintendent Ron Porter: Vice President for sales Doc Reeves: Engineer Issue Rondell was suffering from a number of problems: frequent delays and engineering errors in its new products, decreased profitability, and an escalation of conflicts between its various key departments. Frank Forbus was newly hired as the director of engineering at Rondell who was brought in by Bill Hunt, the President, to help solve these problems. Especially, Frank was expected to work as a liaison between production and engineering to ensure the newest technological breakthrough gets put into production according to schedule. However, Frank faced various challenges: two of his immediate predecessors were fired after one year on the job, probably for protesting too vehemently about the other departments; he is put into an organization where he has much positional power but little actual power.
