University Of Phoenix Affirmative Action Does sex or race get the job 3 Even though most white males work harder than anyone that’s why they get better pay and different career ladders than others, affirmative action affects everyone regardless of sex, race, religion, or nationality because it means to act positively yet aggressively and it is illegal for an employer to discriminate against anyone. “In its tumultuous 48-year history, affirmative action has been both praised and pilloried as an answer to racial inequality. The term "affirmative action" was first introduced by President Kennedy in 1961 as a method of redressing discrimination that had persisted in spite of civil rights laws and constitutional guarantees. It was developed and enforced for the first time by President Johnson . "This is the next and more profound stage of the battle for civil rights," Johnson asserted. "We seek… not just equality as a right and a theory, but equality as a fact and as a result.” http://www.infoplease.com/spot/affirmative1.html Affirmative action has affected everyone in one way or another. Whether it was hurting a person directly or indirectly, parts of discrimination have affected us all. There is a stereo-type that says that discrimination only affects black people or gay people, but that is not the case. There are many different cases of discrimination especially in the workplace. People have lost jobs just because their boss did not like the way they looked or what they did in their personal time. This is where the discrimination part comes in to play, also where actions must be taken to stop this. It is known that in human and in animal nature that if we see something different than what we are, it is instinct to treat that thing different. In the animal world if a mother lion gives birth to its cubs. If one is deformed or different she will leave it behind or kill it. In human nature we either embrace the uniqueness of the difference or we discriminate against it. This is a harsh

We are very much like animals back in the early 1900’s people would dress up in white sheets and beat and even hang black people just because they were different than them. This still goes on today, it is more rare that is goes on but it still goes on. Now people like to do this is the corporate world. We are not much different than animals at all.
