Study the case, "Vanrex, Inc." on pages 111-119 of the text Management Communication: Principles and Practice (3rd Edition). Answer the following questions concerning the case "Vanrex, Inc." Your response should be both thorough and succinct; be sure to use correct spelling and grammar. 1. What is the problem at the Vanrex plant? Is it just a problem of perception or of the residents’ desire for zero emissions? Are there real problems with the control of stack emissions and fugitive dust? Vanrex is the unwitting victim of consumer prejudice because of environmentalism and pollution scares striking fear in their local community. The issue cannot be so easily dealt with by saying the consumers are wrong; we are not polluting, since people s beliefs and attitudes cannot easily be shaken with plain facts. Vanrex has already invested more than is necessary to limit emissions, but the community remains due upset to the fact that they can still smell sulfur. 2. What steps have been taken to reduce emissions at the plant?
