Semester A, 2008/09 Tutorial 5 Week 6 (6 th , 8 th , 9 th October, 2008) The questions are divided into three levels. Level 1 is the review questions. You should able to answer them after attending the lecture. Level 2 is the problems. You should take a revision of the book before answering them. Level 3 is challenge exercise. They are advanced problems. Please be prepared before the tutorial. Level 1: Review Questions Question I: Simplify the following function to SOP form using Q-M method: f ( a,b,c,d ) = Σ m (4, 5, 6, 8, 11, 13, 15) (Step 1: List) list all minterms in the following table minterms a b c d Partition and combine the minterms from neighboring groups to form the new implicants. Mark the changing bit as ‘ ’ and give a tick ‘ D ’to the selected implicants. Mark the unselected implicants as PI i . minterms a b c d minterms a b c d minterms a b c d (Step 4: PI Chart) Copy the PIs and mark the ‘ x ’s on the corresponding columns
