Assignment: Personality Theory Presentation There are different personality theories and assessments used to determine the personality of certain individual. The most important thing to keeping mind is the knowing the personality theory applied in which the personality is tested. Without understanding such, the assessment may become meaningless. A psychodynamic theory explains behavior as the product of psychological forces within the individual usually arising from Unconscious thoughts, feelings, motives, and conflicts and repressed problems from early childhood. For example habitual smoking or gum chewing is linked as a suppressed deprivation of the oral needs during infancy. According to this theory, the personality grows out of the resolution of unconscious conflicts and developmental crises. Freud’s different developmental stages for example can explain this theory best. Personality assessments that are used to correspond to this theory include projective tests, personal observation and interviews. The Humanistic Theory lies on the belief in the basic goodness and respect of humankind. An
