Frederick C. Ennette 11/05/2009 SOC 207 Final Project Part one: Identify a Topic What Is The Impact of Affirmative Action on Non-Minority Students? In 1961 the late President John F. Kennedy passed an order to be sure that African-Americans were being treated equally. President Kennedy’s Executive Order 10925 mandated affirmative action to ensure that applicants are employed, and that employees are treated during employment, without regard to their race, creed, color, or national origin. In the 1970’s affirmative action was made so that it also pertained to college admissions. Although affirmative action does give minorities a chance to get into good schools and get a quality college education many people have pondered and thought about if this law is constitutional. If it comes down to an African American student with a 2.7 grade point average and a Caucasian student with a 3.0 average is it right that the African American student is chosen over the Caucasian student just because of Affirmative action laws? Many people do not think so and that is why
