What does the company’s code of ethics say about the rights of its workers, shareholders, consumers and suppliers? Wells Fargo’s Code of Ethics refers to their reputation throughout the document. It demonstrates how an employee’s behavior impacts the Wells Fargo reputation. Wells Fargo places much value on their reputation. The Code of Ethics repeatedly states that employees must be honest and fair when dealing with customers, vendors, competitors and fellow employees since the conduct with them determines the success of the company. “Wells Fargo expects its team members to adhere to the highest possible standards of ethics and business conduct with customers, team members, vendors, stockholders, other investors, and the communities it serves, and to comply with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations that govern our business.” …rights of workers… It is evident that the rights of employees are not given as much weight as the reputation of the company. Wells Fargo’s Code of Ethics gives many examples of employee responsibilities and what employees can’t do in order to preserve and improve the Wells Fargo reputation. If the employee behavior is in keeping with the company reputation, it generally is accepted. Some specific rights mentioned in the Code of Ethics are: -If ever the “right” answer or action is unclear, the employee can seek advice and is encouraged to do so. -Employees are provided an EthicsLine where they can report misconduct. -If a co-worker is ever committing any of the prohibited behaviors that personally affects them, the employee has the right to report it (i.e. harassment, bribery, manipulation). “No retaliation may be taken against a team member as a result of a good faith report of a possible Code violation by others.” -Personal employee information is confidential. -If an employee is struggling financially, Wells Fargo provides assistance to help
